ARC are the most common enemy you'll face as a Raider. They are deadly machines that rain from the sky to ravage the surface of the Rust Belt.

They range from small, unassuming forms like roaming Surveyors and feisty Ticks to towering, multi-legged behemoths that dominate the landscape. Each ARC variant has its own strengths, weaknesses, and attack patterns, requiring different strategies to defeat.

ARC Behavior Stages

ARC have 3 behavior stages based on detection. Each stage is identified by the light emitted from the ARC's scanner.

  • A Blue Scanner indicates the ARC is patrolling or has no target.
  • A Yellow Scanner indicates the ARC is alerted to a player's presence or is cautious.
  • A Red Scanner indicates the ARC has found a target.

Note: ARC can jump straight to red from blue if shot. The scanner gradually shifts from red and yellow if a player is or is not within its scanner.

Variants

ARC Image Drop XP Weakness
Snitch
  • Destroy: 100

Destroying 2 of its 3 thrusters will cause it to crash and be destroyed.
Wasp
  • Destroy: 100
  • Loot: 200
Destroying 2 of its 4 thrusters will cause it to crash, or quickly use an entire mag into its body, and it will be destroyed.
Hornet
  • Destroy: 150
  • Loot: 250
Heavy ammo or medium ammo guns are best for destroying hornets. Taking out 2 of the 4 thrusters on the same side will cause them to crash and be destroyed.
Tick
  • Destroy: 50
  • Loot: 100
Single shot of most guns will destroy this ARC.
Pop
  • Destroy: 50
  • Loot: 100
Couple of shots from most guns will destroy this ARC.
Fireball
  • Destroy: 100
  • Loot: 100
This ARC will open its armor to attack, shoot those open spots to destroy it, several shots from most weapons will destroy this ARC.
Turret
  • Destroy: 100
  • Loot: 200
Line up your shots in 3rd person around a corner and shoot it till it starts shooting back, hide behind cover until it stops shooting. Repeat.
Sentinel
  • Destroy: 200
  • Loot: 300
Surveyor
  • Destroy: 200
  • Loot: 300 for core + 100 per part
When on patrol, it will send a blue signal beam into the sky. This can be used to find Surveyors, and when transmitting the internals are much more vulnerable than the shell.
Shredder
  • Destroy: 200
  • Loot: 250
Take out its thrusters with heavy ammo weapons. Hide behind cover as it's about to attack. Repeat.
Spotter
  • Destroy: 100
  • Loot: 200
Medium and heavy ammo weapons will take these ARC out quickly. No specific weak points.
Bombardier
  • Destroy: 500
  • Loot: 300 per part
Weak points are its leg joints and rear of the unit. It deploys 2 Spotters when aggroed, take out the Spotters, and it won't shoot you unless it sees you. Keep moving as it does not lead its targets.
Bastion
  • Destroy: 500
  • Loot: 250 per part
Weak points are its leg joints and rear of the unit. Mines can be effective as this is slow moving.
Leaper
  • Destroy: 500
  • Loot: 600 for core + 500 per part
Stun grenades and Hornet Drivers are effective at keeping this unit from moving around. Focus on its 'eye' and mag dump until it is destroyed.
Rocketeer
  • Destroy: 500
  • Loot: 500 per part
Break line of sight as much as possible. Heavy ammo weapons are most effective at its thrusters.
The Queen
  • Destroy: 1000
  • Loot: 1000 for core + 500 per part
Matriarch
  • Destroy: 1000
  • Loot: 1000 for core + 500 per part

ARC Husks and ARC Probes

Husks are dynamic spawning, lootable, destroyed and long forgotten ARC scattered throughout the landscape Topside.

ARC Probes come and go throughout your time Topside but will land in predetermined positions for some time before leaving after they've collected enough data. Sometimes you can find damaged versions of ARC Probes that have been knocked over.

ARC Plating

ARC have different types of plating that can tell you at a glance how armored an ARC is or where their weak-points are. A general rule of thumb for dealing with ARC is that weapons with higher ARC Armor Penetration will be more effective.

  • Unarmored Plating is distinguished by its matte, white coloring. All weapons are semi-effective against Unarmored Plating although rounds with Moderate ARC Armor Penetration or above will be the most effective.
  • Armored Plating is distinguished by its shiny, dark gray coloring. Rounds with or above Moderate ARC Armor Penetration are needed to damage Armored Plating as anything below Moderate will bounce off. Damaging Armored Plating can strip it off, revealing weaker plating.
  • Weak-Points are distinguished by their matte, bright yellow coloring. Damaging Weak-Points deals direct damage to ARC and should be the priority when attacking.
