ARC Surveyor
More actions
The Surveyor is an unarmed, spherical ARC machine completely protected by an armored shell.
Behavior
The Surveyor is typically observed shooting a blue laser beam into the sky using a telescopic tool. As it does this, its armor plating is retracted and its vulnerable core is exposed. Presumably, the Surveyor's laser is used to communicate with ARC infrastructure and/or units in orbit.
The Surveyor can easily sense approaching Raiders. Once threatened, it will immediately finish what it's doing and roll away at a speed faster than a Raider can sprint. Although it prefers to escape engagements, the Surveyor will not hesitate to roll into its attacker if left with no other option but to defend itself. This attack does a moderate amount of damage. Once it senses danger has passed, the Surveyor will resume its transmission.
While uncommon, the Surveyor has been observed rolling off ledges in certain scenarios while escaping an attacker.

Combat
Destroying the Surveyor can be tricky because it will immediately roll away at high speed when threatened or attacked. To quickly destroy the Surveyor, the best strategy is to first delay its escape by stunning it with a Hornet Driver or Showstopper while it's still exposing its core, and then throwing powerful explosives like Heavy Fuze Grenades to finish it off.
As the Surveyor takes damage, its armored panels can break off and be looted. Heavy Ammo is more effective at shedding its armor plating than most other Ammo types.
Loot
The Surveyor Vault is a unique item dropped by the Surveyor that's used to upgrade the Medical Lab.
Codex Entry
Evasive and mysterious, the ARC Surveyor is known amongst Raiders as a rich source of high-value ARC tech.
The Surveyor has been observed to roam the surface, and is believed to fill up data-banks with all kinds of measurements and analyses.
Although unarmed, it should be noted that the ARC Surveyor is not without defensive capabilities. If provoked, it may launch an attack and try to ram whomever is close by.
