A Weapon is a gun that fires projectile- or energy-based ammunition. Raiders use Weapons to attack and defend against ARC and other Raiders.
Each Weapon belongs to a class that broadly describes its characteristics, such as the Assault Rifle, which rewards controlled bursts, or the Shotgun, which excels at close range. The Ammo type determines how easily a Weapon penetrates ARC armor, ranging from minimal to devastating.
Upgrades
Most weapons can be upgraded, or leveled up, at the Gunsmith to permanently improve how well they handle. The upgrade level of a weapon is indicated by the numerals I, II, III, and IV.
Weapons with the Legendary rarity cannot be upgraded.
Mods
Weapon mods, also known as modifications or attachments, are items used to adjust the properties of a weapon. Each weapon has a limited number of special slots that can accept mods. Unlike upgrades, weapon mods can be freely added and removed.
Raiders are encouraged to try different combinations of mods on their favorite weapons in the Practice Range.
