The Matriarch is a colossal ARC machine that makes the Queen look friendly by comparison. It can only be found when its map condition is active.

The Matriarch is an unrelenting challenge posing significant risk once engaged. The Matriarch has several abilities and attacks that allow her to withstand substantial fire power. It's primary attack is a swarm of unrelenting missiles that track their target and fly toward it. Unlike the Queen, the Matriarch has the ability to summon ARC to defend itself. Both larger and smaller ARC threats are spawned and it makes fighting her in the open almost impossible. Ensure to engage the Matriarch behind large solid pieces of cover.

Attack

Missile Swarm: Will fire 3-6 Missiles from the back of it's body that will track it's target and fly in a straight line towards the Raider. The Missiles when launched go straight up into the air, before then flying in the direction of any target the missile has seen, or anywhere that a Raider was seen previously.

Leg Stomp is her secondary attack when a Raider is close by the legs of the Matriarch. Once stomped the raider is temporarily stun locked in a fallen over animation. After about 2 seconds the raider can move again.

The Matriarch has a tendency to move its legs around continuously, getting hit by it's legs will stun lock you in a knocked over animation for a short period of time and deal a decent amount of damage

Abilities

The Matriarch has several abilities that make it difficult to continuously utilize the same piece of cover.

  • Gas Capsule
  • Flashbang Capsule
  • Energy Shield
  • Summon ARC

Gas Capsule:

blocks line of sight with a thick green gas and drains the Raiders stamina when in proximity. The Capsule when launched travels far distances and often hits the ground and rolls.

Flashbang Capsule:

similar to the Gas Capsule is launched travels long distances, when landing it blinks briefly before exploding, blinding the raider by flashing your screen white if in line of sight.

Energy Shield:

When the Matriarch engages it's energy shield that absorbs all incoming projectiles and throwables including the Wolfpack. During the energy shield only projectiles and throwables from within the shield will deal damage. The shield last for a ~1 Minutes but duration may vary. Due to the larger ARC she calls in to defend itself, it can be difficult to get close to the Matriarch.

Summon ARC:

The Matriarch also calls in a variety of larger and smaller ARC to defend itself including Bastions, Bombardiers, Leapers and Rocketeers as the primary defence with the smaller ARC including Fireballs, Hornets, Wasps and Ticks, making it difficult to traverse without significant risk.

Combat Tips

High Ground/Cover

  • If her children are unable to protect her the fight becomes trivial, examples of good spots:
  • Spaceport - Control Tower A6 and The Launch towers
  • Dam Battleground -
  • Blue Gate - On top of reinforced reception with deployable barricades

Weak Points

  • Don't target the legs, target her faceplates until they break off, then her big red glowing core will be exposed

Attack Pattern

  • Only attack that really hurts is her rocket barrage, the rest you can brush off relatively fine
  • When her energy shield comes up hold fire till it falls, or if you fancy your chances, slip inside the shield and take shots at her now-exposed core

The Matriarch makes the Queen look friendly by comparison. This colossal terror dominates the battlefield with punishing barrages that impairs vision, cripples movement and tear Raiders apart.

The versatility of the Matriarch is stunning. She is able to surprise even veteran Raiders with her tactical capabilities.

The Matriarch's Reactor is one of the most sought after trophies. Few Raiders have managed to bring one back home.
