Even after all these years, the harrowing tales of the First Wave are burnt into the memories of those who lived to tell the tale.
Just as the world seemed to recover from a devastating ecological collapse, lethal machines started falling from the skies. Any semblance of progress and stability was wiped.
Though ruthless, machines during the First Wave were comparatively rudimentary, and the first Raiders soon found ways to target their weaknesses. They built an extensive network of outpost and defensive structures to support them in their resistance, many of which can be seen around Topside to this day.
The first Raiders fought for over a decade to beat back the machines. Through a series of daring battles and harrowing losses, culminating in the hard-fought Battle of Victory Ridge, ARC was eventually driven from The Rust Belt; leaving behind trails of destruction as well as scattered husks. Though the battles earned the survivors several years of respite, a more resilient and refined generation ARC would eventually return; the Second Wave.
