Close Scrutiny is a map condition that spawns Surveyors, protected by Vaporizers, that call in ARC Assessors after they finish locating valuable materials. Raiders can breach ARC Assessors to access loot such as Assessor Matrices and more.
Assessor behavior
After deployment, an Assessor’s pylons pump in a synchronized rhythm. Simultaneously, the Assessor sequences through its active pylons in a clockwise rotation, extending the corresponding pylon platform at each turn. When a platform is deployed, its pylon becomes vulnerable to being breached by a Raider. If a pylon is fully breached, then the platform underneath it will remain permanently, and the pylon will be deactivated.
If a pylon is not deactivated within five minutes of touchdown, its red beam begins blinking. Shortly after, the pylon will eject from the carrier and launch upward into the sky.
Once a Raider begins breaching a pylon for the first time, the Assessor emits a noise and a swarm of aggravated ARC spawns nearby. If the Raider fails to finish the breach, subsequent attempts on that same pylon will not trigger additional ARC spawns.
The resulting swarm may consist of a variety of flying ARC, including:
Breaching strategy
There are several ways to avoid or manage the ARC swarm triggered by a pylon breach. The following methods are commonly employed by Raiders:
Before breaching
- Use one Li'l Smoke Grenade before breaching and one before looting
- Use one Smoke Grenade before breaching
After looting
- Throw a Lure Grenade in the opposite direction from where you will run
- Use a Photoelectric Cloak to safely walk away
In some cases, preparatory measures are unnecessary if you are equipped with the right equipment, such as a Photoelectric Cloak, which allows for a clean getaway regardless of the initial swarm.
Locked doors behavior
All locked rooms normally requiring a key are accessible during this map condition; their locked doors are either permanently open or removed entirely. The only locked rooms that cannot be accessed are those that are normally unlocked through a puzzle.
