Construct a caravan to send your Raider off on an Expedition beyond the Rust Belt.
Expeditions are perilous. Your Raider will carry all their possessions into the unknown beyond the Rust Belt. In return, your next Raider gains a unique edge that lasts until the next Expedition departs.
Undertaking an Expedition means your Raider leaves the Rust Belt for good. Preparing your caravan takes time and resources, and once it departs, much of your progress will be reset. Some rewards and advantages carry over to your next Raider, lasting until the next Expedition begins. These advantages can be increased by continuing to send Raiders on future Expeditions.
Expedition is a recurring Project unlocked at level 20. At the end of the project, players can trade most of their account's progress in exchange for both temporary and permanent rewards.
The next departure window opens from 25 February, 2026 – 1 March 2026, departing on 1 March, 2026 UTC.00
The Expedition system
The Expedition project is done in six stages.
After completion of all stages of the Expedition requirements, players can decide to depart with their Raider during a departure window.
Departure windows open every few weeks and last for one week. A Raider needs to explicitly be registered during the departure window or they will not depart.
If a Raider is registered for departure, their stash value (items + coin) is evaluated after the departure window closes. Depending on that stash value, additional Expedition rewards are granted.
After departure, a new Raider must be created, and progression is reset based on the table below.
A new account starts at the requirements and rewards of the first Expedition, and only departures advance players to the next Expedition.
Consecutive departures grant stacking rewards which are only removed if a departure window is missed.
Expedition requirements and their current progress are not changed or reset when a departure window is skipped.
Completing an Expedition gives permanent unlocks and temporary advantages. Temporary buffs can stack up to a maximum of three times for each consecutive departure of Expeditions, but are lost as soon as one departure window is missed.

10% repair buff
30% repair buff
Base repairs give 50% of the item durability. After the durability points for a base repair are calculated, bonus repair points are added as a percentage of repaired points leading to lower repair percentages than expected.
Example: a weapon of 0/130 durability is repaired with a 10% expedition bonus.
It is first repaired to 65 (50% of 130) durability.
Then, the 10% repair buff is calculated 0.1x65 = 6.5 are added, leading to a weapon durability of 72, which is an effective bonus of ~5%, lower than 10%. Instead of an actual 60% repair that would result in 78 durability.
Permanent rewards will persist regardless of if the Expedition project is completed again. Rewards depend upon which Expedition (in order) is completed.

Requirements
These requirements are completed in order, starting from the first Expedition. Only if these are completed and the Expedition has departed, may the next Expedition be started. Rewards are also bound to the associated Expedition.
Building the base structure and frame of the caravan
The following items must be committed to progress to the next stage, and cannot be retrieved.
Note: These are the current Expedition requirements. If your requirements are from the old Expedition, this difference might be caused by something we don't know after Patch 1.6.0
Building walls and roof, installing, core systems, and defining the interior layout
The following items must be committed to progress to the next stage, and cannot be retrieved.
Loading the caravan with vital supplies. Combat gear, survival equipment, provisions, and repair materials are needed to fully prepare for the Expedition.
The following types of items must be committed to progress to the next stage, and cannot be retrieved.
Your caravan is stocked with necessities and ready to depart on your Expedition. Once the departure window opens, you can choose to send your Raider beyond the borders of the Rust Belt forever. All items remaining in your Raider's stash will be contributed to the Expedition, and your next Raider can earn up to five skill points based on the total value of those items.

Catchup mechanic
The Catchup system allows for players who have completed a previous Expedition and did not amass enough coins to earn each Skill Point to reclaim the ones they missed during subsequent Expeditions. The catchup Skill points are heavily discounted, making the total Coins needed to reach max Skill Points less for each Expedition. Amass the entire Stash value and enjoy your Skill Points before everyone else, fail to do so and the catch-up system will allow you to close the gap over time.
For example if you completed the previous expedition and only earnt 3/5 skill points, you now get a chance to reclaim the 2 skill points you missed out on. When departing on the next Expedition you will need to gather 600k per Skill Point for a max of 5 Skill Points, for a total of 3,000,000 in (stash value + coins). To earn the 2 Skill Points you missed out on, you will need to gather an additional 600k, 300k per skill point. This means that to earn all the skill points and reclaim the previous ones, you will need a total of 3,600,000.
Note:
When completing subsequent Expeditions, Coins will be contributed towards the current Expedition's skill points, meaning you must gain all 5 Skill Points, before contributing coins to the reclaimable Skill Points from previous Expeditions.
Rewards and requirements may change for future expeditions and bonus Skill Points won’t be available indefinitely for those that continue to depart.
You cannot reclaim Skill Points for Expeditions you did not participate in (did not signup for the Expedition during the Expedition Window). Only Skill Points in which you did not meet the requirement to gain the maximum number of skill points can be reclaimed.
Departure times
If the current Expedition of a Raider is completed, departure is possible during the departure windows.
