The Snitch is a small, unarmed ARC reconnaissance drone that diligently searches the environment for Raider activity. It is equipped with a wide-angle scanner that projects a visible light similar in appearance to a spotlight. When it acquires a target or is threatened, the Snitch will alert nearby ARC with a loud siren before calling for reinforcements to drop from orbit.
Combat
The Snitch has four unarmored thrusters that control its flight. Destroying multiple thrusters of any combination will likely destabilize the drone and send it spiraling towards the ground. Each impact with the terrain damages the Snitch with a chance to permanently disable or destroy it.
A few well-placed shots with a weapon that fires Medium or Heavy Ammo is usually enough to destroy a Snitch before it begins calling for reinforcements.
- Hiding in heavy foliage may be enough to avoid being spotted by its scanner.
- Reinforcements are only guaranteed to appear after the Snitch begins the third in its series of calls.
- Snitches erratically flying with missing thrusters are more difficult to finish off.
Loot
The Snitch Scanner is a unique item that is found by salvaging a destroyed Snitch. It is used to upgrade the Utility Station.
Codex Entry
Pesky and vigilant, the Snitch is an unarmed reconnaissance drone, equipped with advanced scanning technology. They are frequently found patrolling strategic areas or scouting ahead for other enemy units. If it detects any human threat, it calls in reinforcements from orbit.
The purpose of the Snitch seems to be to uphold communication networks and coordinate orbital drops. Shani refers to them as ARC's "eyes in the sky"; calling in reinforcements and maintaining operational awareness.
The ability to call in reinforcements make Snitches a high-priority target for Raiders who want to avoid escalating encounters. However, some Raiders have been known to intentionally aggravate it in a bid to conveniently harvest Wasp and Hornet Drivers.
The Snitch Scanner, the stand-out component inside this drone, has been repurposed by many a Raider. Most notably, it triggers upon being thrown, calling in reinforcements that target any perceived threats in the Scanner's vicinity.
